Valentine’s Day has come round again, and it is time to
Show the Love for the Environment and Nature. Can you believe it was 3 years since we made these hearts? The ones that were left should have gone to the Cathedral
to be with Dippy the Dinosaur, but that hasn’t happened yet. I thought we could decorate our bench with
some hearts on 14th February. It would be great if you could make some more to make a
good display. You can knit/crochet/cut
out shapes/ bend some wire. There are
ideas in this month’s mailing for you. Let me have them by Friday 12th, or come along
on Saturday and help tie them to the bench. The more the better. |
Hi Everyone,
I hope you are still keeping well. Pam recently attended a virtual Presidents’
Reception via Zoom, and found it interesting to hear from other Presidents
about how they are also keeping in contact with members. It turns out that many are not happy to use
zoom. She was also reminded about the
green hearts campaign and was told that the new resolution which was voted
through was the one relating to Ovarian Cancer.
There are also plans to start a ‘Virtual WI’ using zoom
and Pam attended the first meeting last week along with 50 other women,
including one lady who was in Canada!
The next meeting will be on Feb 15th at 7.30pm and there will
be a speaker, so if you are interested to join in and see what it is like,
email Louise, (address on the Fed Newsletter) for the details. Another virtual WI event has been set up on
Facebook –called ‘WI Wanderers’, each day there are links to different
activities, Carol enjoyed a great day yesterday learning crochet techniques, doing
seated keep fit exercises and then joining in a quiz in the evening run by
Wiltshire Federation. These were all
free, but some activities you have to pay for and some need booking. But if you don’t get enough WI stuff from me
and need ideas to keep you busy, why not give one of these a go?

Beware of COVID Scams.
Criminals are always trying new ways to con you out of money. Nina recently had a call saying that money had been taken from her bank account, fortunately she spotted the scam and did not part with any information. Your bank will never ask for account numbers. Now criminals are using COVID -19 vaccine as a way to target you and trick you into handing over cash or financial details by sending convincing-looking text messages which say you are eligible for the vaccine or phoning directly pretending to be from NHS or local pharmacy.
BE WARNED the NHS will
· NEVER ask for payment – the vaccine is free
· NEVER ask for your bank details
· NEVER arrive unannounced at your home to administer vaccine
· NEVER ask you to prove your identity by sending a copy of personal documents eg passports.
The COVID vaccination programme
is the largest in the history of the NHS. More and more locations for receiving
the vaccine are becoming available all the time, and the pace at which the
vaccinations are being offered is increasing. Those who are most at risk from COVID-19 are
being prioritised first:

members of the
public who are over 80 years-old
·
care home workers
·
a small number
for at risk frontline NHS staff
In the meantime, please be
patient - do not contact your GP or your local NHS with eligibility queries.
When it is someone’s turn to receive the vaccine they
will be notified. If you have not
already received the vaccine, you will be contacted by NHS or your local
surgery. .
